Hey W270!

Have not written to u guys for quite some time already. Have been quite busy with the new course. How have u guys been? I’m currently halfway through my semester now. Things are going fine with my studies.. Just finished up one paper last week and just started another one this week. (Paper=Module) All together we have to take 6 papers this semester. of which 2 papers have flying as our practical portion of the paper. Will be sitting for my first flight exam most probably next week. So far the flying has bee quite interesting. A little stressful at times though. Just did my first solo a few weeks back. We had to do the normal circuit patterns for our solo. And recently last sat, I went up on my first solo flight out of the controlled zone to the training areas. Brought my camera up with me then and took a couple of photos and videos. Pretty interesting. Will post them up soon. In terms of the theory part of the course, it has been great so far. All praises be to Him for the results so far. The passing grade for my course is 70% for all subjects and so far everything is going well. Please continue to pray for me for my results.

Quite a bit has happened in this short 2 months this semester. In class and out of class. Church has been great so far. The pastor invited us over to his place for lunch one Sunday. Was really nice. After that he brought us to his sister in law’s farm to see the little calves. In church, the messages are really good each week. And the presence of God is getting stronger and stronger… Because of my timetable now, I’m not able to attend the Massey University CF meetings. But am still able to make it for the small groups they have after classes. Am still able to go for the Overseas Christian Fellowship every Friday nights. Have just recently taken up a leadership role in OCF as a small group leader and am starting to take praise and worship. It’s a great experience and I have learnt a lot so far from just helping out in whatever way I can. It’s really enjoyable too thinking of new ideas and all. 2 weeks ago we had a Sunday school style praise session. Was interesting. The Saturday after that we had a church ball. First time I ever heard of and been to a church ball. Before that, a few weeks back we had a bible quiz in one of the churches and our OCF team came in 2nd. We won a picture frame with a picture of a monkey inside. Haha… 3 weeks back, we had a baptism service on one of the churches. Was really touched at the service. One of my friends got baptized then so went down to support him. He is an Indian who only came here this year. And his testimony really touched me. The persistence of his friend who was so willing to share the gospel with him really encouraged me. And on his baptism day, he requested that his friend be the one who baptizes him. The whole service was really amazing as ppl came out to share verses and encouragements to those being baptized. Was amazing.

Other than CF, we have the Merlion Club. It’s the Singapore Club here in the University. We had a mooncake fest on campus and had lanterns and all. But we only kinda dared to walk 5 meters outside with the lanterns. Paiseh la… We had the club AGM on the same night as well. Voted for the new club president and I was voted in as the president for a 1 year term. So now we are hoping to contact Singapore and am trying to bring the club back up. Dragged Cedric ( the other CHC usher) to become my finance minister. Still looking out for my PM now. Haha..

Yup. Quite abit of stuff happening. So really need ur prayers. Need good time management and efficiency. At the same time, need to maintain my grades. Hoping to be able to apply for scholarship at the end of the yr. So must pray for me… Need prayer too as I move out of the halls at the end of the year. We have found a flat to move out to. Just need to wait till the end of the year before we can move our things in. If not, I think I’ll only be back in Dec. Will try to update u guys on what’s happening here. Thank you again for your prayers. God bless.

Nigel

Hey guys,
Have not written to you guys for quite some time now. How have you guys been? Have been a lil busy since I got back here. Had assignments due and a mid semester test last sat. The weather here now is getting a lil cold. It’s hitting as low as 1 deg at night. But during the day it’s not too bad. About 15 deg. Have been raining quite a bit but the rain here lasts only a few min. But it makes the weather colder.

I just bought my car here in NZ. Went to a car auction last wk. Was really interesting. First time I ever been to an auction. And raising your hand to bid for the car was quite an experience. Have just loaded up more photos on the snapfish website. I dun think I got the whole cell on the mailing list though. So here’s what u can do. I’ll try to add the rest into the mailing list soon.. I only managed to add those on my MSN list.

I visited Elim church 3 wks back. It’s apparently a branch church from Auckland which one of my friend goes to. Pretty good. Then me and Cedric (The other CHC usher studying here) went to Christian City Church. It’s a really good church. Really felt the spirit moving in that church. And Cedric too said it’s like CHC. So I think we might be going to that church from now on. Brought my other friends there as well and they liked it there. So I think the 4 of us will be going there now. The week before, the Pastor preached a really good word. Was really encouraged by it. He used the analogy of a ship. Where the builders have to consider how they build the ship below the surface of the water to balance what is above the water. The top may look really nice to everyone. But as long as what’s below the waterline is not established, there is no balance and the ship will sink. Just like our spiritual life where we have to build what’s below the water line. Which is what we do in our own time. Our relationship with God. Where no one is looking. If we are able to build that and establish a strong foundation in the word, we will increase our capacity to which God can use us. Build what’s below the waterline and not what’s above. It does not matter what ppl see. But what God sees. And was just thinking that like an iceberg, where only 10% of it is seen above water, it has a strong base which is hidden from view. What’s amazing about the iceberg is what’s below the waterline. With that strong foundation, even the greatest ship build, like the Titanic will sink. Problems and troubles no matter how big (Titanic), can come our way. We may seem small in size compared to the task at hand. But if we build what’s below the waterline and build a strong foundation in God, even the Titanic will sink.

There have been a lot happening here. We started a hallwide bible study group where we meet every Friday’s at 530 before the OCF meetings at 7. It’s really good. Really learn a lot more from different people’s point of views. Gonna be sharing my testimony on Friday at OCF. Was asked share last wk. And we are going to deliver phonebooks this wkend to every house in Palmerston North. It is a fund raising project where the money earned is going to support some of the local missionaries. It’s pretty interesting.

Ok. I’m gonna go back to work now. Got an assignment due on Monday. Hope to hear from you guys soon. Take care and God bless.. Thanks again for all your support and your prayer.

Cheers,
Nigel

Hey guys,
How have everyone been? Heard about the Benny Hinn conference. Was quite sad that they didn’t have it live on the internet.

Have not written back to you guys for some time. School started and it’s quite a challenge to begin studying again. Waking up for lectures is not easy after the first wk. But I’m getting the hang of it. And there’s suddenly so much things to read.

Just a lil update on what’s happening here in NZ. Managed to join a few clubs here in school… Joined the Massey University CF and the Overseas Cf. Joined waterpolo and also Canoe polo. At the same time kinda joined the Alpine club and the Merlion club (We dun really do anything much in the Alpine and Merlion club) The alpine club is a club where the ppl will plan trips to go rock climbing, alpine climbing, bush walking etc. And we just see if we want to tag along for the trips. A good cheap way to experience NZ. Merlion club, it’s kinda by default we are in it. Heard that they organize stuff like going to the Singapore High Comm for national day etc. So looking forward to that. MUCF is a CF group that is mainly made up of the locals. Their objective is mainly to reach out to others through whatever means there is. For example, “Learning how to speak English, using the bible” for students weaker in their English. Or teaching ppl to play the local sports using it as a medium to reach out. OCF is more for international students. It’s quite a good club as ppl who join OCF are not Christians. The ppl there join it as it is where they can meet other international students. And it is through the meetings that the love of Christ is shared. (We entered a team into the indoor soccer league starting this wk. Our team is called “The International Superstars”) Met a lot of other Christians here and it’s always a joyous thing to meet them on campus every now and then. Met 1 Singaporean last wk at OCF. Didn’t know about him until last fri. His name is Cedric. And he is an usher from service 2. Really thank God to have met him. He feels it too. It’s like the church here is diff from back home. It’s always nice to have someone who understands the diff we’re facing. I found Pastor Mike’s church on the internet. Apparently it is 2 hours away from school. So we are thinking of driving up to have a look at his church. And if need be, we’ll do that every week. Figured that the time traveling would be a good time for us to fellowship as well. But first, we need a car.

I went to this church called New Life Church the week before. Me and Cedric find that the church is quite the same as back home. They speak in tongues and are more charismatic. The only thing is that the congregation are majority the locals. And they are not quite used to having Asians around. Grace city church has more Asians and it feels more homely there as in the ppl there are more welcoming and friendly. Met a few Singaporeans there too. To get to New Life is a prob too as transport again is not there. Would need to bike about 40 min to get to church. But we are still looking out for other churches. Praying about it. But it’s really refreshing to be able to hear the messages from back home. And have someone here to go through this as well. Managed to get the first half of the March Daily Devotions from Cedric. Apparently mine is still on it’s way in the mail.

Went to Grace City church last wk again as I brought this girl I met from China living in my hall. Apparently I ran into her after church the wk before and she asked me where I went so told her I was in church. We talked for awhile (in Chinese) and she told me that she has been here for a yr and apparently no one has ever invited her to church before. Realised that the international students here are more open to going to church as they see this as a culture the westerners have and they are curious about it. There was this Indian guy I met, he said that he became a Christian because he was curious. He said he tried many other religions and he wanted to prove that Christianity don’t work too… I guess there are many different ways God directs their paths to salvation.

Anyway, can’t wait to see you guys again…. Easter is next wk already… I’ll be going for an Easter camp with OCF to a Maori village. It will last through the weekend. Will be back in town on the 27th and will make my way down to Auckland after that. The good news is that I’ll be getting on a plane on the 30th of March (Wed) and will arrive back in Singapore 31st of March (Thurs) morning. Which means that I CAN MAKE IT FOR CG ON THE 31st of MARCH… =) And service on the 1st (Robin, do they need an extra security personnel?) Will be in town till the 10th of April. Apparently my cousin’s getting married on the 9th of March. So that’s what gave me the excuse to come home for my 2 wks Easter break =) Gonna be bringing quite abit of stuff back with me this time round though… Haha… Yup. I’ll see you guys soon… Till then, do take care… And thank you guys once again for all your prayer and support.

Love,
Nigel

Praise God! God is indeed Good. In the recent Benny Hinn conference, Brandon brought his grandpa down on saturday. His grandpa has kidney cancer and suffers pain in the kidneys. After Pastor Benny prayed, his grandpa turned to Brandon and said the pain in the area of his kidneys have gone! Praise the Lord!

On sunday during our church service, after the touching message that Pastor Kong preached, Wendy's dad responded to the altar call and received salvation! Not only that, when Pastor prayed for healing, Wendy's father got healed of his neck pain as well! Praise the Lord!

God is a good God amen? =)
